Mike Wang Posts 2K26 vs 2K27 Community Shooting Stats: 3PT% Down in Every Mode, REC −8.1

Gameplay Director Mike Wang (@Beluba) shared a first-party Early Access community shooting table on Aug 30, 2026 — 2K27 three-point percentages trail 2K26 in Park, Comp 3v3, REC, and Comp 5v5. Unfiltered FGA/FGM data, still climbing daily, with separate 85+ OVR and Casual Corner snapshots.

Editor’s note: The details below come from Mike Wang (@Beluba), NBA 2K Gameplay Director, in posts on X on August 30, 2026. Wang’s bio states that his views are his alone and do not reflect the views of 2K. This article summarizes what he shared; it is not a 2K press release. 2khq.com is unofficial and not affiliated with 2K, Take-Two Interactive, Visual Concepts, the NBA, or the WNBA — and is distinct from 2K’s official NBA 2K HQ companion app.

Five days into Early Access, Wang dropped something the community had been arguing about in clips but rarely saw in numbers: a first-party community shooting table comparing 2K26 vs 2K27 across four online modes. The headline is blunt — three-point percentage is down in every mode Wang listed, with REC (−8.1) and Comp 3v3 (−7.8) showing the steepest 3PT deltas. Field-goal percentage is down in Park, Comp 3v3, and REC too, except Comp 5v5, where FG% actually rose +3.9 even as 3PT% still fell.

This is a snapshot to date as of August 30, 2026 — not a season-long average. Wang said the numbers are still climbing daily as attributes and badges come online, and he later broke out 85+ overall players separately. Read it alongside his pre-launch warning that most players will shoot lower than 2K26 and his Aug 27 no-RNG-on-perfect-release clarification — the table does not contradict either; it quantifies what Park and REC lobbies already felt.

The community shooting table (2K26 vs 2K27)

Wang’s chart post on August 30 (6:25 PM ET) carried the caption: “2K26 vs. 2K27 community shooting stats to date in case you’re interested.” The table below is transcribed from his official chart image.

Mode 2K26 FG% 2K27 FG% Δ FG% 2K26 3PT% 2K27 3PT% Δ 3PT%
Park 55.2% 53.5% −1.7 45.6% 41.2% −4.4
Comp 3v3 49.1% 48.9% −0.2 37.6% 29.8% −7.8
REC 52.8% 48.0% −4.8 44.5% 36.4% −8.1
Comp 5v5 43.9% 47.8% +3.9 35.1% 29.7% −5.4

3PT% is down everywhere. Even Comp 5v5 — the only row where overall FG% improved — still lost 5.4 percentage points from three. REC took the biggest hit on both lines: −4.8 FG% and −8.1 3PT%.

FG% is mixed. Park (−1.7), Comp 3v3 (−0.2), and REC (−4.8) all trail 2K26. Comp 5v5 is the outlier at +3.9 FG% while 3PT% still dropped — worth watching as more 5v5 reps accumulate, but do not read it as “threes got easier in Crew HQ.”

Wang did not define Comp 3v3 beyond the chart label. He did clarify Comp 5v5 in a reply: “ProAm/Proving Ground in 2K26, CrewHQ in 2K27.” That maps the 5v5 row to organized team play — Proving Grounds in 2K26 and Crew HQ in 2K27. Methodology: unfiltered makes and attempts

When @MyKlipFull asked what the numbers represent, Wang replied: “These are unfiltered FG attempted/made shooting stats.”

That means all field goals attempted and made — not open-look-only filters, not contest-tier breakdowns, not badge-specific slices. Wang did not publish sample sizes, platform splits, or date windows beyond “to date.” Do not treat this table as a controlled lab test; it is aggregate community telemetry Wang chose to share.

Still climbing: builds are not finished yet

@YT_Solo noted that percentages should rise as attributes and badges grow. Wang agreed: “the numbers have been climbing pretty steadily each day.”

Early Access week one skews toward fresh builds and incomplete badge grinds. The Aug 30 table is a checkpoint, not a ceiling. If you are comparing your Day 3 clip to last year’s Month 3 averages, you are racing a moving target.

85+ overall: better shooters, same direction

In a self-reply, Wang added a breakdown for 85+ overall rated players so far in 2K27 — no 2K26 compare column, but useful for separating “my build is mid” from “the mode is brutal”:

Mode FG% (85+ OVR) 3PT% (85+ OVR)
Park 59.4% 48.7%
Comp 3v3 52.8% 38.0%
REC 51.5% 41.2%
Comp 5v5 51.1% 35.8%

Compare Park: the all-player table showed 41.2% from three in 2K27; 85+ OVR players sit at 48.7% — a meaningful gap that rewards finished builds without erasing the year-over-year drop from 2K26’s 45.6% Park 3PT% line.

Casual Corner and PlayNow Online (2K27 only)

Wang posted two additional 2K27-only snapshots without 2K26 baselines:

Casual Corner (reply with standalone numbers): FG% 73.8% | 3PT% 66.9%

That hub is the optional rookie-friendly PvE-to-PvP space 2K described in the City Courtside Report — lower stakes, less representative of ranked Park or REC. The inflated percentages match the design intent: practice and onboarding, not comp meta.

PlayNow Online (quote-reply to @UrbanCiphe): FG% 61.4% | 3PT% 55.2%

That sits between Park’s all-player 2K27 line (53.5% FG / 41.2% 3PT) and Casual Corner — online league play without The City’s REP grind context.

How this fits Wang’s earlier shooting messaging

Nothing in the Aug 30 thread walks back prior posts:

Treat Aug 30 as telemetry Wang chose to publish, not a balance patch announcement. Patch 1.3 arrived the next day with Takeover and progression tuning — separate from this stats dump.
