NBA 2K27 Patch 1.4: City Stability, Social Menu Friends List, MyCAREER FIBA Fix, PS5 Edge on Steam — No On-Court Balance Changes
Update 1.4 is a day-before-launch stability and QoL pass — The City mode fixes, friends list at the top of the Social Menu in lobbies, a MyCAREER FIBA offseason blocker resolved for existing saves, and PS5 Edge controller support on Steam. No Shot Artist, Calibrated, Crew XP, or REP tuning.
Editor’s note: This article summarizes the September 3, 2026 NBA 2K27 Patch Notes v1.4 Steam community announcement and its official patch graphic. It is editorial coverage, not a 2K press release. 2khq.com is unofficial and not affiliated with 2K, Take-Two Interactive, Visual Concepts, the NBA, or the WNBA — and is distinct from 2K’s official NBA 2K HQ companion app.
Patch 1.4 is not a gameplay balance update. Where Patch 1.3 was the first Early Access title patch to dial back Shot Artist and Calibrated Takeover effectiveness and retune Crew XP and REP earn rates, 1.4 stays off the court entirely. 2K’s September 3 notes are a stability and quality-of-life pass aimed at The City, lobby social flow, a MyCAREER offseason blocker, and PC controller support — timed the day before worldwide launch on September 4, 2026 (edition timing recap). Treat this as housekeeping before the full player base arrives, not a meta shift.
When Update 1.4 ships
Per the official graphic, Update 1.4 posted September 3, 2026 on Steam. The Steam announcement body points readers to discord.gg/nba2k for notifications; the changelog itself lives on the official patch graphic linked below. 2K did not publish separate platform timing lines in this announcement the way 1.3 did for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
The City: stability fixes across game modes
The headline City line is broad but intentional: 2K made a number of stability fixes in The City game modes to improve the overall user experience. The graphic does not itemize individual modes — no separate REC, Rucker Park, or Crew HQ bullet — so read this as a general City stability pass rather than a feature drop.
That still matters for anyone grinding The City’s co-ed hubs or running Crew HQ ladder sessions during Early Access. Crashes, hangs, and progression hiccups in City modes were among the most reported Early Access pain points; 1.4 addresses stability without touching earn rates or on-court tuning from 1.3.
Social Menu: friends list moved to the top in lobbies
Lobby squad-up got a small but practical UX change: the friends list now appears at the top of the Social Menu in lobbies, making it easier to connect and squad-up with your friends.
If you have been scrolling past other Social Menu panels to find your crew before a Park or Crew HQ run, this is pure navigation — not matchmaking logic, not party persistence (that was Patch 1.3’s squads matchmaking fix). Faster friend access should reduce friction when you are trying to fill a squad before worldwide launch traffic spikes.
MyCAREER: FIBA offseason blocker fixed for existing saves
Career players stuck in the offseason got a save-rescue fix: 2K fixed a potential blocker that could occur during the FIBA portion of the offseason in MyCAREER. Existing saves can now continue.
That mirrors the pattern from 1.3’s Fire & Concrete co-op disconnect fix — 2K explicitly says you do not need to restart a career that hit the wall. If your MyCAREER run halted during the FIBA offseason segment, patch and load the same save rather than abandoning progression.
PC: PS5 Edge controller support on Steam
Steam players with Sony’s premium pad get native support in this update: 2K added support for the PS5 Edge controller for Steam users.
This is input hardware only — no gameplay tuning, no key-binding overhaul (that was Patch 1.2’s PC key remapping). Secondary coverage has noted console version numbering may differ from Steam’s 1.4 label; treat the official graphic as the source of truth for what shipped on PC.
Developer note: a bigger patch before Season 2
2K’s developer note on the graphic acknowledges ongoing reports and thanks the community for fast, clear feedback. The forward-looking line matches 1.3 verbatim: the patch they will release prior to the launch of Season 2 will contain a much broader set of fixes and improvements spanning the entire game.
Read 1.4 as another interim pass — stability and QoL ahead of launch day, with 2K still telegraphing a wider Season 2 pre-launch sweep. Do not expect this update to replace the comprehensive balance conversation Patch 1.3 started on Takeovers and progression rates.

Patch 1.3 recap: gameplay tuning 1.4 does not repeat
To keep expectations straight going into launch weekend:
| Update | Gameplay tuning? | Headline changes |
|---|---|---|
| Patch 1.2 (Aug 28) | No | Auction House buyout search, PC key remapping, stability |
| Patch 1.3 (Aug 31) | Yes | Shot Artist and Calibrated reduced; Crew XP and REP retuned; squads, Fire & Concrete, REC, Auction House, PC mod tool |
| Patch 1.4 (Sep 3) | No | City stability, Social Menu friends list, MyCAREER FIBA fix, PS5 Edge on Steam |
If you patched for Takeover or REP feel and skipped 1.4 thinking another balance drop landed, you can safely deprioritize — unless City stability, career saves, lobby social UX, or Edge-on-Steam applies to you.
What to watch after you patch
City regulars should notice fewer stability rough edges across modes even without a published fix list — if hangs persist, note which hub and game mode before the Season 2 pre-launch patch 2K keeps promising. Crew officers and friend-group leaders benefit from the Social Menu reorder immediately; it does not change Seasonal Crew XP math from 1.3.
MyCAREER players blocked on FIBA offseason saves should resume on the same file. Steam players on a PS5 Edge pad can plug in without workaround mappers. And keep an eye on 2K’s Discord for the next graphic — 1.4 is launch-eve housekeeping, not the full Season 2 balance sweep.
