NBA 2K27 is officially out. Per 2K’s September 4, 2026 Newsroom announcement, the title is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2 — the global launch date we’ve tracked since July and detailed in our Early Access explainer.
Editions and US pricing
2K lists three digital SKUs at US suggested retail prices:
| Edition | Cover athlete | MSRP | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Victor Wembanyama | $69.99 | Physical and digital on all platforms |
| Deluxe | Caitlin Clark | $99.99 | Digital only; includes Early Access bonuses |
| Ultra | Derrick Rose | $149.99 | Digital only; limited-time bundle |
The Ultra Edition was available through 11:59 PM PT on September 6, 2026 per the Newsroom post. As of this writing on September 7, 2026, that purchase window has closed — if you missed it, the Deluxe and Standard editions remain the live options. For edition contents, VC bundles, and Early Access timing, see our Early Access and Editions Explainer rather than rehashing the full SKU matrix here.
Nintendo Switch 2: what’s new at launch
Our Early Access explainer already noted that Switch 2 gets Standard Edition only — Deluxe and Ultra are not sold on Nintendo’s platform. The September 4 Newsroom post adds the Switch 2-specific feature set that prior coverage had not spelled out in one place:
- 60 FPS Performance Mode — the first time NBA 2K on Switch targets 60 frames per second, with a Fidelity Mode also available
- Party-style motion mini-games built around Switch 2 hardware: 3PT Contest, Blacktop-style games, Dunk Contest, and Pop-a-Shot
- GameShare support
- Full mouse support
That is a meaningful platform story at launch: Switch 2 owners are not just getting a portable port of the base game — 2K is pitching dedicated performance options and motion-based side content you will not find on PS5, Xbox, or PC through this announcement.
What ships in every version (with links to our deep dives)
2K’s launch post recaps the headline pillars without reprinting every Courtside Report. We already broke these down in August and September coverage — here is where to go on 2khq rather than duplicating those explainers:
The City: co-ed hubs, Crew HQ, Casual Corner
The franchise’s first co-ed City — male and female MyPLAYERs in the same online spaces on equal build footing — anchors the multiplayer pitch. Rotating REC venues, Rucker Park’s return, Crew HQ ranked squad play, and Casual Corner as an optional rookie hub are all live. For Discord-confirmed details on Rucker rebranding, Streak Breakers, and Seasonal Crew XP, see our City & Crew Q&A.
MyCAREER: Eras, Fire & Concrete, co-op
MyCAREER ships with five historical Eras, the cinematic “Fire & Concrete” comeback story, and the series’ first co-op MyCAREER. Our modes deep dive covers Eras, co-op partner Trace Miller, and the broader mode stack; treat the Newsroom launch post as confirmation those paths are in the retail build, not a new announcement.
MyNBA Legacy
Front-office players get MyNBA Legacy — a player-locked RPG spanning a 100-year universe on top of rebuilt franchise tools. Same modes article has the August Courtside Report breakdown.
MyPLAYER Builder: female builds, Badge Tokens, Synergy
The most customizable Builder in franchise history adds female MyPLAYERs, Badge Tokens, reworked progression, and the Synergy system. Lab it with our Builder explainer and 2K Lab build requirements reference.
MyTEAM: Player XP and unified Auction House
MyTEAM’s launch pitch centers on Player XP on every card and an Exchange that accepts any Player Card (Free Agents excluded). The Newsroom post also confirms a unified Auction House across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 — the largest cross-platform card pool in MyTEAM history per 2K. See our MyTEAM section in the modes deep dive for August Courtside Report context.
The W and MyWNBA
WNBA career and franchise modes return with Build-as-You-Go progression, updated Game Attribute System, Team Badges, and front-office control in MyWNBA. Covered in the same modes article.
On-court gameplay
The “balanced two-way era” overhaul — ProPLAY animations, dribble suite, contest system, Takeover rework — is the on-court foundation 2K keeps citing at launch. Our gameplay Courtside Report breakdown remains the reference; the Newsroom post points to Mike Wang and Tyrese Maxey’s official gameplay video for the full tour.
NBA 2K HQ companion app
2K’s NBA 2K HQ mobile app — remote Builder uploads, QR build sharing, Crew messaging, daily rewards — is separate from this website. See NBA 2K HQ: 2K’s Official Companion App (Not 2khq.com) for what shipped ahead of launch.
PC graphics: NVIDIA DLSS 5 (already covered)
The Newsroom post reiterates NVIDIA DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and GeForce NOW Ultimate. We covered that rollout separately — it is a PC graphics driver feature, not a 2K gameplay patch. Read NVIDIA DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on PC for timing, hardware requirements, and how to enable it.
Patch 1.4 shipped launch eve; Season 2 patch still ahead
Patch 1.4 landed September 3, 2026 — the day before worldwide launch — with City stability fixes, a friends list at the top of the Social Menu in lobbies, a MyCAREER FIBA offseason blocker fix for existing saves, and PS5 Edge controller support on Steam. It deliberately avoided the Shot Artist, Calibrated, Crew XP, and REP tuning from Patch 1.3.
2K’s developer note on the 1.4 graphic matches 1.3’s forward-looking language: a broader patch prior to Season 2 is still coming with fixes spanning the entire game. Treat 1.4 as launch-eve housekeeping, not the comprehensive balance sweep Early Access players have been asking for.
What Visual Concepts says
The Newsroom post quotes Greg Thomas, President at Visual Concepts:
“With overhauled, balanced gameplay at its core, this year’s release introduces a depth of content and features to satisfy every kind of player. From the new MyCAREER Eras mode and the first Co-Ed City in franchise history, to a 100-year MyNBA Legacy and Player XP on every MyTEAM card, every aspect of NBA 2K27 has been built to give players more ways to compete.”
That lines up with the August Courtside Report wave and the feature links above — launch day is less about new reveals and more about the full player base arriving on a build Early Access owners have been stress-testing for nine days.
